GRADES 7–8

Discipline

We teach student self–discipline in conjunction with a demerit system as described in the Parent/Student Handbook.

Learning Disabilities

Killian Hill offers a program in which students with minor learning disabilities meet with a therapist five times a week and are mainstreamed for the remainder of the school week. See the Learning Discoveries Program page for more information.

Extended Study

Extended study is offered from 3:30–5:30 p.m. daily. See the Tuition & Fees page for the pricing of this service.

Homework

Students in grades 7–12 generally receive regular homework assignments during the week, and special projects (book reports, theme papers, etc.) are assigned with more advance notification. Homework assignments and grades are available on the Internet through RenWeb.

Extracurricular Activities

Athletics

A full range of boys and girls sports provide a venue for participation on both the varsity and middle school (MS) levels. MS boys participate in cross country, soccer, golf, basketball, baseball, and tennis. MS Girls participate in cross country, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and tennis. The Cougars participate in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association, which consists of over 125 member schools.

Fine Arts

Each year, our students compete in fine arts competition in categories such as art, music, drama, Bible, and academic testing. Our students consistently rank in the upper levels among all competitors. Involvement in this area helps to instill a deeper appreciation of the fine arts. Students also have the opportunity to participate in choir and to perform in various activities throughout the school year. Each year the drama department of Killian Hill presents a full dramatic production, ranging from a musical to a staff-written production.

Music

KHCS offers private, thirty-minute piano, strings, and flute lessons on campus once a week. Band and orchestra opportunities are also available on an after-school basis.

Academic Teams

KHCS offers students the opportunity to participate in competitive quiz, debate, and robotics teams. The teams are divided into a middle school team, a JV team, and a Sr. high varsity team.
