Excellent Fine Arts Programs

Musical Proficiency and Cross-curriculum Applications

KHCS offers an excellent and diversified fine arts program. Students in grades K-4 through 6th grade receive musical instruction and training every week. These General Music classes provide students with the fundamental knowledge and experience to thrive in whatever musical endeavors they choose. Through singing, percussion instrument training, rhythmic exercises, recorder programs, and numerous other hands-on strategies, students develop not only musical proficiency but also cross-curriculum applications.

Extracurricular Opportunities

In addition to the core musical studies offered at KHCS, students have many additional musical avenues in which they can flourish. KHCS provides both band and orchestra ensembles at the Elementary, Jr. High, and High School levels. The orchestra program, consisting of bowed string instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and string bass, is offered as early as the first grade, while band, which consists of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, begins in the fifth grade. Orchestra and Band students have the opportunity to perform at school events, concerts, and competitions throughout the school year.
