Blessed Rest – Pastor Kwame
Wow! It’s hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the school year! Summer is approaching, and with it, many of us are anticipating a much-needed break. God has truly been good to us here at KHCS. He has carried us through another year filled with joy, growth, challenges, victories, and lessons. My hope and prayer is that, over these next few weeks, we will finish strong.
As we lean into the upcoming summer break, let’s look forward to exciting family moments, fun activities, and some intentional rest. And while you rest, don’t forget to reflect on the One who ultimately invites us into lasting rest.
In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Jesus the King knows the kind of rest we need most. He knows that we will constantly try to work to earn peace, joy, and righteousness on our own. But those attempts, apart from Him, will only wear us out. Praise God that Jesus calls us to Himself — not to burden us, but to give us true rest. If you don’t know Him, come to Him today. He is the only One who can make you whole with His righteous life. If you know Him already, continue to rest in Him and may your joy be maximized.
And as we step into summer, and every day beyond, let’s be intentional when it comes to finding true rest — not just in vacations, late mornings, or quiet afternoons (as good as those are — trust me, my family and I will enjoy this time as well), but in the One who calls us to Himself. That’s the rest that renews us, refreshes us, and fills us with purpose for whatever lies ahead.
Thank you for allowing me the joy of walking this school year alongside you and your families. God has been kind to us. May your summer be filled with joy, peace, and the sweet rest that only comes from Christ.
Love you all,
Pastor Kwame
