KHCS Kindergarten

Killian Hill Christian Preschool is a place where children in kindergarten, both K4 and K5, can develop and learn in a nurturing and Christian environment. In addition to discovering and recognizing the letters of the alphabet, learning letter-sound recognition, and developing vocabulary, our youngest students also learn biblical character development. Our preschool director and teachers emphasize God’s Word and His plan, encouraging our students to learn more about Him. The daily schedule intentionally provides short periods of teaching phonemic awareness, language acquisition, and environmental awareness intermittently with hands on “work” that our students consider play. Throughout the day students enjoy reading time with their teachers that includes traditional literature, fanciful prose, poetry, and nursery rhymes. Preschoolers receive group and individual help learning to write a pre-cursive alphabet using correct posture, pencil hold, and paper placement. Math is taught with fun math manipulatives, and repetition is key as new math concepts are explored. These concepts include number recognition in general and specifically as these numbers relate to areas the children recognize such as a calendar, clock, money, and measurements. These early learning concepts, combined with cooperative play, allow our preschool program to provide countless opportunities for a variety of fun, age-appropriate educational activities.
