Doug Abels - Head of School
Doug Abels loves Christian education and he has a strong desire to impact young lives for eternity and for God’s glory. For twenty years, he ministered in a vibrant Christian school on the island of Guam, learning to love and serve a very diverse group of people and cultures. Beginning as a math and science teacher, he transitioned into school administration for the majority of his twenty years there, all while earning a master’s degree in secondary education and then a doctorate in educational leadership. Dr. Abels is passionate about academic excellence, purposeful discipleship, and continual improvement. He and his wife, Karen, have four children, Jesse, Seth, Jake, and Emma. He enjoys basketball, motorcycles, ethnic cuisines, the mountains, woodworking, and reading.

Karen Abels - Math Teacher/Marketing Assistant
Karen Abels grew up in Roanoke, VA. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in mathematics as well as a master’s in secondary education. She has been teaching for over twenty years. Mrs. Abels teaches algebra I and oversees our Georgia GOAL program and our social media platforms. During her free time, she enjoys cooking & baking, exercising, coffee dates with friends, and spending time with her family.

John Allan - Science Teacher/Academic Dean
John Alan was born in Ocala, Florida. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He is the Academic Dean, Science Department Head, one of our science teachers, National Honor Society sponsor, and quiz bowl coach. Mr. Allan has a desire for his students to love science, and many students who graduate from KHCS say they were thoroughly prepared for their college science classes. He and his wife, Kim, have four children, Jake, Abigail, Anna, and Amelia. He enjoys reading and cycling.
Kim Allan - Lunchroom Assistant
Kim Allan was born in Hagerstown, Maryland but grew up in Florida where she attended the University of Florida. Mrs. Allan and her husband John moved to Georgia in June of 2008 when he accepted a teaching position at KHCS. They have four children, Jake, Abby, Anna, and Amelia, who all attend KHCS. In her free time, she enjoys taking trips and spending time with family.
Akberet Andegiorgs - K5 Assistant
Akberet Andegiorgs was born in Ethiopia but later moved to Eritrea and studied education at the Teachers Teaching Institute and also commerce at the Red Sea School. She is currently working at KHCS as a teacher’s assistant and also in the preschool after care program. Mrs. Andegiorgs and her husband, Binyam, have two sons, Noah and Elnathan. In her free time, she enjoys baking.
5th Grade Teacher
Caroline Anderson - 5th Grade Teacher
Caroline Anderson was born and raised in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English education. Mrs. Anderson has taught for ten years and has a heart for people. She and her husband, Walt, have an ongoing ministry with refugees. They have two daughters, Alex and Emma. During her free time, she enjoys singing, crafting, reading, writing, and traveling.
Lori Anderson - K4 Teacher
Lori Anderson was born and raised in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree in special education from Bob Jones University and has nine years of teaching experience. As the preschool director, Mrs. Anderson spends her time teaching character and foundational concepts to the youngest on the Hill. Her husband, Chris, is the lead pastor at KHBC and they have four daughters, Rebekah, Rachel, Esther, and Grace. She enjoys spending time cooking and baking for her family.

Jim Bailey - Boys P.E. Teacher
Jim Bailey was born in Chesapeake, Virginia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree. He has spent thirty of his thirty-eight teaching years at KHCS. He and his wife, Linda, have two sons, Allan and Kyle, who are both alumni of KHCS and educators as well. In his downtime, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his granddaughter.
Jenée Baker - Advancement Director
Jenée Baker was born in New Rochelle, New York. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and also a degree in scientific visualization computer graphics. Mrs. Baker has been at KHCS for over twelve years as a parent and three years as an employee. She and her husband, Berkley, have three children, Josiah, Amanda, and Amarie. During her free time, she enjoys watching her children play soccer and piano.

Deborah Ballew - 3rd Grade Teacher
Deborah Ballew was born in Waterford, Michigan. She holds a bachelor of science in elementary education and a master’s degree in education. Mrs. Ballew is currently in her twenty seventh-year at KHCS, and her love of reading is contagious. She and her husband, Tom, have two sons, Matt and Micah. During her free time, she enjoys reading, sewing, and crafting.
