Rose Bonner - Math, Bible, Science Teacher

Rose Bonner grew up in the Dominican Republic. At a young age, she heard the gospel and started a new life with Christ, growing in Him and with love for His Word. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with a minor in Spanish literature. She also has Master of Science degree in organizational leadership and is a few years into a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Bonner has been teaching since 2004 and is married to her husband William Bonner. The Bonner’s have four children. When Mrs. Bonner is not teaching, her hobbies include volleyball, music, (vocal and instrumental) and going on family adventures. She is passionate about teaching, and she loves mentoring her students as they learn and grow in the subject areas that she teaches.

Seon Yeong Hwang

Seon Yeong Hwang - Math Teacher

Seon Yeong Hwang, a mathematics teacher, has taught and tutored students at many levels from elementary to college for over 16 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and General Science from Ewha Womans University in South Korea with an Academic Excellence Scholarship. She moved to the United States with her family in 2015 and achieved a Georgia Teacher Certificate in Math and Physics. She enjoys swimming with her lovely daughters, Zion and Reion, and playing the flute in her church.

Sarah Munne

English Teacher

Sarah Munne - English Teacher

Sarah Munne was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her bachelor’s degree in speech education. In addition to teaching English, she also coaches students for fine arts competitions.Mrs. Munne enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, and two sweet daughters, Jane and Gwen. She enjoys watching The Great British Baking Show, reading classic literature, and coloring with her toddlers.


Marcia Rygh

Marcia Rygh - Paino and Flute Teacher

Marcia Rygh was born in Lebanon, Indiana. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in piano performance from Bob Jones University. She has been teaching private piano and flute lessons for over thirty years. She and her husband, Steve, have four children – Kaitlyn, Collin, and Kristyn have all graduated from KHCS and Connor is currently a senior. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and coffee shops.

Matt Lewis

Matt Lewis - Guidance Counselor

Matt Lewis was born in Missouri. His holds a bachelor’s degree in math education and a Master of Science degree in secondary education. He has been teaching for fourteen years. Mr. Lewis is currently the head of the math department, the guidance counselor, and one of our math teachers. Not only is he passionate about teaching math and preparing students for math competitions, he also enjoys playing his guitar in chapel. He and his wife, Megan, have three little ones. Eden, Cade, and Arabelle. During his free time he enjoys reading, yard work and math.

Janeen Dawson

Janeen Dawson was born in Atwater, Ohio. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. She has taught for thirty-four years, twenty-seven of those at KHCS! She is always at work updating the books in the library and making the library one of our students’ favorite places. She and her husband, Doug, have three children, Jared, Jonna, and Jake, who have all graduated from KHCS. During her free time, she enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and reading.


Doug Dawson

Doug Dawson - Secondary School Principal

Doug Dawson grew up in eastern North Carolina. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership. He has been teaching for thirty-nine years, thirty of which have been at KHCS. Mr. Dawson’s office (and his chocolate jar!) is always open to those who come to campus. He and his wife, Janeen, have three children: Jared, Jonna, and Jake. During this free time, he enjoys mountain biking and kayaking with his family.

Robert Sherman

Robert Sherman - Bible Teacher

Robert Sherman was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (and yes he is still a die hard Steelers fan!). He currently holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, while finishing his master’s in biblical studies. Mr. Sherman has been teaching for twenty-four years, all of which have been at Killian Hill. He and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Benjamin and Hannah. During his downtime, he enjoys working on model trains, golfing, and cheering on the Steelers!

Wendy Monroe

History Teacher

Wendy Monroe - History Teacher

Wendy Monroe was born in Creve Coeur, Missouri. She holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. Mrs. Monroe is an alumnus of KHCS and has served as a member of the faculty and staff here for over fifteen years. She has traveled extensively and weaves her experiences into her history lessons. She and her husband, David, have two children, Gwyna and Colin. During her free time, she enjoys scrap-booking and photography.

Doug Hilliard - 6th Grade Teacher

Doug Hilliard was born in Harrison, Michigan. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in school administration. Mr. Hilliard has been teaching for forty years – twenty-four of those at KHCS. He has served as teacher, coach, and mentor to KHCS students during his years here. He enjoys golfing, cheering on the Michigan teams, and spending time with his wife, Patty.
