Marykate Johns - Elementary PE/STEM/Middle School PE/AP Biology

Marykate Johns grew up in Grayson, Georgia, and was a student at KHCS from kindergarten through her graduation in 2021. After high school, Marykate earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, before returning to Georgia to accept a teaching position at KHCS. Marykate is passionate about mentorship, sports, and encouraging others to do their best for God’s glory. In her free time, she enjoys sports, baking, painting, and coffee.

Brian Johns

Athletic Director, Technology Director & Campus Security

Brian Johns - Athletic Director, Technology Director & Campus Security

Brian Johns was born in Horseheads, New York. He received his master’s degree from Bob Jones University. Mr. Johns has been the Director of Technology at KHCS for over twenty years. He is also the athletic director and coaches multiple sports. He and his wife, Suzanne, have four children, Will, Marykate, (both graduates of KHCS) Tommy, and Timothy. In his free time, Coach Johns enjoys road and mountain biking as well as playing basketball.

Sheila Janifer

K4 Preschool Teacher

Sheila Janifer - K4 Preschool Teacher

Shelia Janifer was born in Anniston, Alabama and has resided in Gwinnett County for over 30 years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Office Administration from Jacksonville State University. With her eighteen years of homeschooling, she directed a community of 30+ children and over 15 families with the Classical approach to learning. She and her husband, Mark, have two adult daughters and one son.  In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, discovering new recipes, and exploring new adventures outside.


Seon Yeong Hwang

Secondary Math Teacher

Seon Yeong Hwang - Secondary Math Teacher

Seon Yeong Hwang, a mathematics teacher, has taught and tutored students at many levels from elementary to college for over 16 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and General Science from Ewha Womans University in South Korea with an Academic Excellence Scholarship. She moved to the United States with her family in 2015 and earned a Georgia Teacher Certificate in Math and Physics. She enjoys swimming with her lovely daughters, Zion and Reion, and playing the flute in her church.

John Hull

Fifth Grade Teacher

John Hull - Fifth Grade Teacher

John Hull grew up in Atlanta. He holds a bachelor’s degree in youth ministry and a minor in coaching. He has previously taught in a Christian school and a homeschool co-op. He and his wife, Julie, have three children and serve in the student ministry of their church. In his free time, Mr. Hull loves preaching, cooking for family and friends, and watching soccer.

Patty Hilliard

Patty Hilliard - Admissions Assistant

Patty Hilliard was born in Gary, Indiana. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Mrs. Hilliard has spent half of her working career in the insurance industry and the other half in full-time ministry in the areas of administration and human resources. Patty enjoys shopping, traveling, cheering on the Michigan teams, and spending time with her husband, Doug, and her cat Gus.


Sarah Hayhurst

Sarah Hayhurst - Secondary English Teacher

Sarah Hayhurst grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin. She earned her BA degree in communication arts and her MEd degree in teaching and learning. This is Mrs. Hayhurst’s seventh year teaching at KHCS. She is passionate about her students becoming excellent communicators through language arts. She has three children and enjoys hiking, biking, volleyball, and piano.

Katy Hansen

K5 Kindergarten Teacher

Katy Hansen - K5 Kindergarten Teacher

Katy Hansen was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia for early childhood education and has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in human resource management from American Intercontinental University. She worked twenty-five years in the financial services industry. She and her husband, John, have a son, Ben, who attends KHCS. She has two dogs and several chickens and enjoys being outside. Mrs. Hansen spends her free time doing youth group activities and events at church. 

Kimberly Griffin

Sixth Grade Teacher

Kimberly Griffin - Sixth Grade Teacher

Kimberly Griffin was born and grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. She holds a master’s degree in elementary education. Mrs. Griffin enjoys seeing the faces of her students when they grasp a new concept. She and her husband, Clifton, have a daughter who is currently a student at KHCS. In her free time, she loves to read and travel.

 


Kristie Grable

Kristie Grable - Third Grade Teacher

Kristie Grableearned her degree in Early Childhood Education from UGA. After homeschooling her four children through high school, she is happy to be in the classroom once again with a love and appreciation for the hearts and minds of her students. Her experience with Child Evangelism Fellowship has equipped her with her greatest passion – imparting the gospel of Jesus Christ to the next generation. In her free time, she enjoys tennis, biking, gardening, and leading after-school Bible clubs through the ministry of Good News Club. Mrs. Grable is grateful for the opportunity to work with the families and staff of KHCS.
